Discover the World of Makam – Tradition, Improvisation & Musical Expression
The Makam Workshop with Eleanna Pitsikaki offers musicians, singers, and music enthusiasts the opportunity to explore the fascinating musical language of Makam.
Makam is a rich system of melodic structures and musical traditions found across the Eastern Mediterranean, Greece, Turkey, the Middle East, and the wider Mediterranean region. In this workshop, participants discover how makam works and learn how its melodic concepts can be applied to improvisation, composition, singing, and contemporary jazz.
Combining traditional knowledge with a modern approach, Eleanna Pitsikaki creates a space where participants can experience makam not only as a theoretical system, but as a living and expressive musical language.Makam Improvisation
