Eleanna Pitsikaki Represents Germany in the International Women of Jazz Initiative 2026
For International Women’s Day 2026, several leading European jazz magazines have once again joined forces to highlight outstanding female artists shaping the contemporary jazz scene. As part of this international editorial collaboration, each publication presents a musician whose artistic voice represents new perspectives in modern jazz.
This year, Greek-born, Germany-based qanun player and composer Eleanna Pitsikaki represents Germany in the project through the feature published by Jazz-fun.de. Her work, particularly her debut album Aroma, explores the intersection of Mediterranean musical traditions, improvisation, and contemporary jazz language.
The initiative brings together eight European jazz publications — including Citizen Jazz (France), UK Jazz News (UK), JazzMania (Belgium), Jazz’halo (Belgium), Donos Kulturalny (Poland), In And Out Jazz (Spain), Meloport (Ukraine), and Jazz-fun (Germany). Each magazine presents a portrait of a musician who contributes to the evolving sound of European jazz.
The project celebrates the diversity, creativity, and cultural exchange that define the new generation of women in jazz across Europe.
